Visit WebsiteAs the oldest outdoor musical in Texas, the Fort Griffin Fandangle is a show that can’t be missed. The people of Albany present the play beneath the summer stars of the Texas sky the last two weekends of June. With singing, dancing, pantomime and pageantry, it recreates the look and feel of life in the frontier days of the Old West. Presented on the acre-sized Prairie Theater, the show brings covered wagons, buggies, the railroad and more than 250 Albany performers. Threatening wildfires, giant rattlesnakes, a rowdy frontier town, and the discovery of oil appear before your eyes.

The museum’s original structure is a restored and repurposed limestone jail built by Scottish stonemasons and appears on the National Register of Historic Places. Since the beginning, the philosophy of the OJAC has been to offer engaging exhibitions and education programs free to the public, while never charging admission.
